Southern Shelter Birthday Week (?)

OK, this site is somewhere approaching the vicinity of two years old. I wanted to celebrate by posting some more music than usual this week, ~~I'm attempting to post a show every day (so 5 shows this week instead of 2)~~. This isn't the actual week the site started I'm sure, but I think I have the time this week so we'll just pretend.

Oh and we're counting the Patterson shows even though they were posted Saturday, but they count as 1 show. I actually made it through without messing this up, thanks for reading/listening.

Dark Meat Reissue Out Today

Since I don't have any music ready to post (probably won't until next week, sorry), I wanted to point out that Vice Records has reissued Dark Meat's Universal Indians today. With live bonus tracks. One of which was recorded by myself, at Cine. So it all ties in. If you missed it the first time around, today would be a good time to check it out.

Deerhunter's Bradford Cox has assembled a full band to play as Atlas Sound (the name previously indicated solo work) for a tour in support of Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel, out this week on Kranky. The tour runs through mid-March, after which Deerhunter gets back to work on their next full-length.

The Arcs @ Caledonia 1/26/08

The Arcs made an impressive debut this weekend to an enthusiastic crowd. Singer/guitarists Ben Spraker (Ceiling Fan, The Shut-Ups) and Kevin Lane (Goat, The Possibilities), drummer Dave Gerow (Ceiling Fan, The Sunshine Fix) and Brandon Reynolds (Wydelles) on bass put months of prep-time in before this first show; that seems to have paid off. They may not appear again until Athfest, so be sure to make them part of your plan that weekend.
